1) Who are we
We are Black Tails Virtual Fighter Squadron. We've been in flight simulation games since 2003. Currently our platform of choice is DCS.
Our community is based on fun. We fly to have a good time. We use pilot lingo and fly in formation and simulate sorties in a realistic way.
BUT!
We are not a milsim squadron and do not aim to replicate every single detail and simulate military life. There will be no ranks or addressing people by »Sir«. We're here to have a good time.
2) What you need
In order to fly with us, you'll need the latest DCS installation and F/A-18C module. This is our primary module that all members must have. We also use all the other modules, but Hornet is our mainstay. You will also need Team Speak in order to communicate with the rest of the members during the missions.
We accept everyone from complete flight sim rookies to aces and even real pilots.
3) Joining the squadron
If you want to join the squadron, simply register on the forums, create a thread in "Join here" subforum or reply to this topic.
All new members must go through a quick basic flight with one of the senior members. This will be a short flight, the main purpose of which is to see what skill level the new member is at and to see if all his equipment is working properly. This is to avoid having any tech or operational problems when we run our missions.
In your training flight we will check:
- Hornet startup
- Take off
- Formation flying
- Weapons deployment
- Aerial refueling
- Landing
Worry not! We accept people of any skill level. Even if you don't know how to fly a plane, you are still welcome. We will teach you everything you will need to know.
